I seek the life that lies beneath the surface of things. My starting point consists of smartphone photographs of everyday objects, which I then translate into the medium of painting in my studio. Through sparse spaces, a muted palette, and the interplay between smooth and thick paint application, the motifs are placed into a quiet, metaphysical setting. Each work is like a curtain. We can contemplate its texture and color, or we can ask ourselves whether it conceals something, whether another world begins behind it, or if there is simply nothing to see.

Ich suche das Leben hinter der Oberfläche der Dinge. Als Ausgangspunkt dienen mir Smartphone-Fotos von Gegenständen, die ich im Atelier in das Medium der Malerei überführe. Durch karge Räume, eine gedämpfte Palette und das Spiel mit glattem und dickem Farbauftrag werden die Motive in eine stille, metaphysische Szenerie gesetzt. Jede Arbeit ist einem Vorhang gleich. Wir können über seine Textur und Farbe nachdenken, oder wir können uns fragen, ob er etwas verbirgt, ob dahinter eine andere Welt beginnt oder ob es schlicht nichts zu sehen gibt.
